Assembly and Installation

Assembly Instructions

STEP 1

Assemble the Main Support Bar (Parts 3 and 4)

Use:
• 2x Short Bolts (part 12)
• 2x Washers (part 13)
• 2x Nuts (part 14)

Tighten nuts and bolts with the enclosed assembly wrench. Match the head (square base) of the bolt with the square opening.

Note: The Stabilizers (part 8) typically are factory pre-assembled. Use of the locking washers (part 20) is optional. When assembled, the two screws connecting the Main Support Bar will be off center.

STEP 2

Attach Curved Bars (1) to Horizontal Plastic Bar

Use:
• 2x Medium Bolts (part 11)
• 2x Washers (part 13)
• 2x Locking Washers (part 20)
• 2x Nuts (part 14)

Make sure the head (square base) of each bolt goes on the padded side of the plastic bar. Don't over-tighten because it is just plastic.

Note: Some units come with bent washers instead of washers and locking washers.

STEP 3

Connect Curved Bars to the Main Support Bar

Use:
• 2x Long Bolts (part 12)
• 2x Washers (part 13)
• 2x Locking Washers (part 20)
• 2x Nuts (part 14)

The curved bars (1) should be nested in the plastic stabilizers (8) on the Main Support Bar (3,4).

Note: You must match the head (square base) of the Long Bolts (12) to the square openings on the Main Support Bar to ensure proper fit. Some units come with bent washers instead of washers and locking washers

STEP 4

Slide the Vise Grips (5,6,7) on the Main Support Bar

Vise Grips (x2) are factory pre-assembled (parts 5, 6, and 7)

The Vise Grip Tightener (part 7) must be on the inside.

Note: You can place the removable padded grips (9) either inside or outside the Vice-Grips depending on your door frame width.

STEP 5

Put Thick Bolts (part 18) Through the Stabilizers (8).
The Nuts with Rrubberized Threading (part 19) should be on the inside part.

• Hand-tighten
• No need to use a wrench to over-tighten

Note: When finished, check unit to ensure that all nuts have been properly tightened. Re-tighten if necessary (use enclosed wrench – Part 17).

Installation Instructions

Gym1 attaches and removes from most standard door frames in seconds. Once you are sure that the doorway you chose has the correct door moldings around it, you are ready to install.

STEP 1

Place the Safety Shim with the sharp end behind the middle door frame molding on the same side as the door hinge. Make sure it is inserted and secure behind the molding.

Note: In some occasions, the space between the wall and the door trim may be painted over so you won’t be able to simply slide in the safety shim. In this case, you can press down the safety shim and the sharp tip will penetrate the paint or you can choose to install Gym1 without the safety shim. The Safety Shim helps keep the Gym1 in place while you secure the Vise-Grips on the sides of the doorway moldings. If installed correctly, Gym1 is safe to use without the safety shim with most attachments. You should install the safety shim when using the Boxing Bag due to the reverberations or if not possible then check and re-tighten vise-grips frequently.

STEP 2

Place the bottom of the Gym1's plastic bar into the grasp of the Safety Shim while moving the Gym1 to rest onto the top of the door frame. This allows the long blue horizontal bar to rest momentarily on the outside of the doorway trim with the Vise-Grips hanging in between.

STEP 3

Make sure Vise-grips are open enough. Next guide the open Vise-Grips on both sides to fully slide flush against the interior door molding trim. First on one side, make sure the Vise-grips align with the interior doorway trim. Tighten the Vise-Grips with the adjuster (6) until contact is tight with the interior doorway trim. Repeat with the other Vise-Grip on the other side of doorway. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN with the adjusters  as this might damage your interior doorway trim. After both vise-grips are secured on each side, tighten each vise grip with the hand tightener to secure their position on the long horizontal bar.

STEP 4

CHECK: Hold and move around the Gym1 for any evidence of loose movement and to make sure the unit is securely installed into the door frame. If it is loose, recheck your steps and make sure Vise-grips are correctly aligned and tighten with the side adjusters and main bar hand tightener.
